Deep within the individual is a vast reservoir of untapped power awaiting to be used. No person can have the use of all this potential until he learns to know his or her own self. The trouble with many people is that they got through life thinking and writing themselves off as ordinary commonplace persons. Having no proper belief in themselves, they live aimless and erratic lives largely because they never realize what their lives really can be or what they can become.
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale
One could read that statement and think well, that doesn’t apply to me. I have one, two, three abnormalities or disabilities.
I am too short, I am too tall, I am too fat, I am too skinny, too black, too brown, too white, too bright, too dull, too illiterate, too intelligent and I could continue.
But am sure you get the point.
The worst part is, these were all things that were told to us.
If you’ve ever noticed a growing child, a toddler before it’s told what it can and cannot do, that child does everything, climb walls and cupboards to reach the things that interest them, they write and color.
They do whatever their little tiny hearts desire.
A while back I did a video for my YouTube channel about abilities and disabilities.
I did some research and I learnt of Helen Keller’s work. She lost her hearing and sight at 19 months old yet, she wrote 14 books and hundreds of articles. She was an advocate for disabilities, she’s traveled over 35 countries and then some.
The great Albert Einstein as everyone knows had challenges learning, yet we quote him everyday.
Ludwig van Beethoven was deaf.
One of my favorite is Nick Vujicic, he was born without arms or legs and he is a famous motivational speaker but more than that he plays golf and soccer and am sure probably other things.
This list is exhaustive but we’ll stop there. I think that’s enough to make my point.
We are only limited by our ability to think beyond what we think is possible.
One of my favorite quotes is, Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve. Napoleon Hill.
I believe that every grand idea that shows up in our mind, showed up only because it is possible. Only because it is something we are meant to see in our physical reality. Something to be manifested. Something to bring joy and laughter to someone else’s heart.
Why do we question the gift and ideas that ultimate intelligence, God, plants in our hearts and minds.
Have you ever had an idea and not take action and the next thing you know, someone else showed up and made it a reality?
Well, if it’s fathomable it's manifest-able.
And if you don’t take up the task you’re given, it will be given to someone else.
Stop thinking that the idea is too grand. Stop thinking you could never be the person the dream requires.
Castles are built by laying bricks. It starts with one brick.
If you’ve ever watched the movie Shrek, he described himself as an onion, so are you.
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single steps.” Lao Tzu. The journey to the person that the dream requires starts exactly where you are today.
Don’t go looking at the mountain and thinking I will never make it to the top, instead, take 5 steps today and 5 again tomorrow, be determined to make it and as you progress, you’ll gain the strength and wisdom that is necessary for you to get there.
Only never think that you are not capable because within you lies the power that creates you and everything else around you.
